Cancer Events: at Health Equals Freedom – Making Sense of Cancer – we compile a list of cancer news and other events on the Australian Cancer Calendar 2024. Hopefully this helps people and their families diagnosed with cancer in various ways.
These activities are held by cancer charities or other organisation raising awareness of different types of cancers and educating the public on healthier lifestyle choices and interventions.
The awareness, funding and research for cancer-related illness and disability, can improve the outcomes and quality of life for people with cancer like you. Getting involved in activities can make you feel empowered and helping others is also very rewarding.
For example, I climbed to the top of Mt Kosciuszko to raise awareness of Rare Cancers for over four years, that was a good physical challenge and a healthy one, it was lots of fun. I love to challenge myself and help others whenever I can. We also did a fundraiser for Cure for Brain Cancer Foundation, to raise funds for medical research in honour of my cousin.
I also shaved my hair for the Leukaemia Foundation to raise awareness of Leukaemia, it was certainly a challenge psychologically.
